When you fish Lake Taneycomo, you expect to catch rainbow trout, and a lot of them! However, one lucky angler, one of Mahoney Outdoors’ very own contributors, Payden Hays, found himself fighting a big bonus walleye below Table Rock Dam on August 13th.
We had heard stories from local guide, Duane Doty, who runs Ozark Trout Runners, that walleye can be found throwing jerkbaits. He has many pictures to prove it too. It’s just hard to believe it until you see it with your very own eyes. Well, Payden and myself are true believers now.
The walleye came just above Trophy Run. Payden was throwing a 1/16th oz marabou jig as the water was falling fast. Luckily we had the GoPro and a handycam ready to capture it all on video!
