If you’re a fisherman living in the Lee’s Summit, MO area, or the greater Kansas City, MO area, you may have noticed a problem. Fishing reports for Lee’s Summit area fishing are virtually non-existent!

As the writer for the Kansas City Star fishing report, I noticed a need for more information about local lakes in Lee’s Summit. Unfortunately, I can only go so far for the paper because resources are limited to bigger lakes like Blue Springs, Longview, and Lake Jacomo. But I want to know more about other local lakes close to where I live, and most especially, those where I can find success fishing from the bank.

Internet searches yielded little information about local fishing. The resources I did find were outdated, oftentimes 5 -10 years old. After brainstorming with some buddies, the solution was simple. A Facebook group that promoted local fishing and shared relevant information about catching fish was the answer.

The Lee’s Summit Area Fishing Facebook Group is your best resource for learning about local public and private lake fishing. The newspaper can only tell us so much, so we hope to share everything we can to help others find success around Lee’s Summit area lakes.
